As a community of people dedicated to protecting Maine’s environment, we all have those special moments in the outdoors that we pull from for motivation. It might be a kayak trip along the ragged coastline, a simple walk with friends in vibrant forests, hiking Katahdin and scrambling over the Knife Edge, the first time you spotted a moose, or relaxing during the summer on a lake with family at camp.
These experiences are what make Maine, Maine, and it’s the inspiration we drew from as we developed our new look that launched today. The refreshed visual identity incorporates some of our state’s most essential natural elements: flowing waters, forested mountains with wildlife, and the rising sun, all unified within a single iconic mark that is uniquely Maine.
The Natural Resources Council of Maine (NRCM) is at our best when we’re nimble and adaptable, bringing our collective power to bear when a bad project is proposed or when we need to bring coalitions together to pass nation-leading legislation. Our new look is infused with that spirit. You’ll see new colors, images, and styles revealed across many platforms, from our website and emails to our print products.
Our goal all along was to respect the momentous victories of our past while continuing to chart a new path forward that responds to an ever-changing world. You’ll see parts of our past logos reflected in our new look, which signals our core mission isn’t changing.
In the coming days, weeks, and months we’ll be rolling out the new look, including with some exciting new hats, t-shirts, and stickers that will be available for our members to purchase in our online store.
As the state’s leading nonpartisan, membership organization dedicated to protecting the nature of Maine, you can be sure our mission hasn’t changed.
We’re still driven by the same passion and energy that inspired a group of Mainers to come together in 1959 to protect the wilderness character of the Allagash.
Across all 16 counties, in the State House, and in Washington, D.C., it’s our job to harness the power of law, science, and the voices of nearly 20,000 supporters to protect the places and way of life that make Maine so special.
This new visual identity strengthens our work, reinforces our mission, and centers us in this place we all love. We can’t wait to share it with you as we’re out exploring Maine’s woods, waters, mountains, and coastlines, or at one of our upcoming events or activities.
I love the new logo, would love a Tee shirt displaying it.
Thanks, Darrah! We hope to have some available in our online shop soon!
Love it. Hoping for t-shirts and bumper stickers soon!
