NRCM member David Preston of China Village, Maine, shares this photo of a six-foot Atlantic Sturgeon that he caught mid-leap on Friday in Waterville.
He writes, “Thank you [Senator] Ed Muskie, author of the Clean Water Act, which transformed the Kennebec River from an open sewer to the gem it is today. If you have never witnessed the spectacle of leaping sturgeon, they can be seen most any day in June in Waterville, Augusta or Hallowell.”
