Since 1959, NRCM has brought people together to protect Maine’s environment—removing dams that blocked our rivers, reducing the waste that lined our roadsides, and defending the woods and waters at risk.

Keeping the North Woods Extraordinary
Maine boasts the largest undeveloped areas in the northeastern U.S. — incredible landscapes and natural resources that could vanish within our lifetime if we don’t act now.
Cleaner Transportation
Our vision for Maine’s transportation future is one in which Mainers can safely get where they need to go with a variety of clean, affordable, and reliable options.
NRCM is a co-facilitator of the statewide Transportation for Maine Coalition, working to provide Mainers with healthier, more affordable options for getting around.
Reducing Wasteful Packaging
In 2021, Maine became the first state in the nation to pass a law requiring large corporations and manufacturers to help pay for the cost of recycling their wasteful packaging, much of it plastic. NRCM is working with towns and cities to make sure they benefit from this new opportunity to reduce taxpayer costs and curb plastic pollution.
