Patagonia in Freeport invited NRCM to help kick off Patagonia’s Sustainable Water & Species Diversity Month. This event began with a screening of the documentary The Story of Bottled Water. Sarah Nichols, Sustainable Maine Director at the Natural Resources Council of Maine, then gave water-related legislative updates after the film.
In the U.S. alone, we consume 1,500 plastic bottles of water per SECOND. Much of this water is consume via single-use plastic bottles—80% of which end-up in landfills—that’s 60 million plastic bottles per day! And, 55% of this bottled water comes from natural springs and aquifers. Learn how your choice to consume water from reusable containers can benefit our environment. And, what we each can do to shift away from single-use containers for our individual water use. The folks from GoGo Refill in South Portland will be on-hand to share information on their services to refill and recycle!
