The Natural Resources Council of Maine and the Ellsworth Green Plan held a screening of the documentary film, “Bag It,” about the problem of single-use plastics in our society. This event was the kick-off for a community effort to limit plastic shopping bags in Ellsworth.
Americans use 60,000 plastic bags every five minutes. Where do the bags and other plastics end up, and at what cost to our environment? “Bag It” follows "everyman" Jeb Berrier as he navigates our plastic world. Jeb's journey in this documentary film starts with a simple question: Are plastic bags really necessary? Jeb looks beyond plastic bags and discovers that virtually everything in modern society is made with plastic. When Jeb's journey takes a personal twist, we see how our crazy-for-plastic world has finally caught up with us and what we can do about it. Today. Right now.
