NRCM Staff Scientist and Healthy Waters Director Nick Bennett will be part of a panel discussion on the health of Maine’s waterways from 12:30-2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 14 at the Maine Historical Society, 489 Congress Street, Portland. This event is sponsored by Portland Ovations.
Noted scholars and scientists will explore our human connections to the coast of Maine past, present, and future. What was pre-colonial Maine’s coast like? How is the changing landscape impacting Maine’s future? What is our role and what are our responsibilities as stewards of Maine’s land and water?
- Nick Bennett, NRCM Staff Scientist and Healthy Waters Director
- Cathy Ramsdell, Executive Director of Friends of Casco Bay
- Paul Bisulca, former Tribal Representative to the Maine Legislature
This event precedes a multidisciplinary performance focusing on the relationships of humans to our environments by Miwa Matreyek, a multimedia activist and artist. Her work, “Glorious Visions in Animation,” focuses on the health of our planet and is part of Portland Ovations’ bicentennial celebration of Maine.
