Mainers Everywhere Invited to Participate in “50 Events for 50 Years”
AUGUSTA, ME—This year, the Natural Resources Council of Maine (NRCM), the state’s leading member-supported organization working to protect Maine’s environment, celebrates its 50th anniversary. Established in 1959 by a small group of volunteers determined to help preserve the Allagash Waterway, NRCM has been involved in nearly every major issue facing the environment since its founding and today is more than 12,000 supporters strong.
Throughout the year, as part of its anniversary celebration NRCM is scheduling “50 Events for 50 Years.” These include events across the state such as hikes, paddles, talks, nature walks, photo exhibits, music, and even a soon-to-be-released film about NRCM’s 50 years protecting the nature of Maine. More than 25 events and activities are already listed at https://www.nrcm.org/about-nrcm/timeline-of-nrcms-history/nrcm-50th-celebration/, and there’s much more to come.
Participants can earn “Brownie Points” that make them eligible for raffle prizes donated by Maine businesses, including a Manatee Deluxe Kayak Package gen
