Thanks to everyone who joined us on Friday, June 19th, for our cruise aboard the Hardy Boat out of New Harbor to Eastern Egg Rock for an up-close look at some of Maine’s favorite coastal summer residents, Atlantic Puffins!

The birds are here only during the short breeding season, and we had the perfect night to see them. The weather was amazing, and the 80 NRCM members, board, and staff were enthusiastic as we boarded the boat and headed out into Muscongus Bay. It was a real treat to have Dr. Steve Kress, founder and director of Project Puffin, as our naturalist and guide. NRCM’s Allison Wells and her husband, Jeff, bird experts and authors of Maine’s Favorite Birds, were also on board to help us identify and locate other sea birds during our trip.
Below are some photos from our trip. If you have other photos you would like to share with us, please send them to nrcm@nrcm.org and we will add them to this slide show.
You can read more about this trip from NRCM’s public affairs coordinator, Beth Comeau, in her recent blog post.
