Maine’s largest environmental group has weighed in on a massive development project planned for the Moosehead Lake Region. Plum Creek wants to build nearly a thousand homes and some large recreational facilities.
But not if the Natural Resources Council has its way.
Wednesday, they gave the land use regulation commission 5-thousand signatures from Moosehead Lake residents opposed to the project.
The Council has been collecting them since the fall.
They say the large number of signatures signals the strong opposition to Plum Creek’s project.
Plum Creek says they are going back to the drawing board to revise their proposal, based on citizen’s comments. They plan to submit their application to the state by March first.
