Description: Jamies Pond Wildlife Management Area is publicly owned and managed by the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife. This 840-acre property was originally purchased with help from the Land for Maine’s Future program. Jamies Pond is open for a variety of public uses, including boating, fishing, hunting, hiking, bird watching, and more. Although the jewel of the property is the Jamies Pond itself, the carry-in boat access, six miles of hiking/cross-country skiing trails, and surrounding woods makes Jamies Pond a unique natural getaway in Central Maine.

Why It’s Special: Places like Jamies Pond are why I love living in central Maine. The 107-acre pond is undeveloped and has clear, cool water that provides good habitat for trout and bass alike. I enjoy Jamies Pond for after-work fishing or a nearby place to go for a walk in the woods.
Tips: Jamies Pond is open to ice fishing—so it’s a great place to wet a line year-round!
