Location: Cape Rosier, Brooksville, Hancock County
Description: Cape Rosier borders Penobscot Bay, and the park is open all year at no charge. It offers a scenic road which is great for bike riding. Holbrook Island Sanctuary State Park offers picnic areas, places for fishing, ponds, and beaches. It’s pretty secluded, and once you get to the park there’s a road that goes from the park (where you have to park your vehicle) to the end of the point. There’s a beach on each side of this road. This is a great place for a dog to run and enjoy the ocean.
Why It’s Special: My dog loves it here!
Activities: Picnic areas, fishing, bike riding, and beach combing. You can go swimming, hiking, have cookouts, and enjoy the outdoors.
Favorite Season(s) to Visit: Summer
Tips: If you continue on and cross the bridge to Deer Isle, there’s a causeway a short distance from the bridge with a beach—never anyone there. It’s a great place to stop if you’re continuing on to Deer Isle and Stonington.
