The expanded Androscoggin River Greenway includes areas acquired in the towns of Canton and Jay. The newly acquired properties by the Androscoggin Land Trust in collaboration with Land for Maine’s Future are dispersed about the towns and include (but are not limited to): the Canton Rivershore Conservation Area, the Spruce Mountain Conservation Area, the Alden Hill Property, and French Falls. This new land in Jay and Canton, officially acquired in 2016, is amongst Androscoggin Land Trust’s thousands of acres of conservation land holdings. The areas are heavily wooded and plans are under way to expand hiking and biking trails in the area. Androscoggin Land Trust owns other lands of interest on the NRCM website and this newly acquired land is similar to other conservation lands along the Androscoggin River.
