Sophie Janeway, Climate and Clean Energy Outreach Coordinator

Sophie Janeway, NRCM Climate and Clean Energy Outreach CoordinatorSophie brings her experience canvassing and working on a wilderness campaign for New York State’s Adirondack Park to her role as an outreach coordinator for NRCM, where she engages members and Maine people interested in climate change and clean energy solutions. Sophie gives presentations around the state and hosts or can be seen at many climate-related events. In her travels prior to coming to NRCM, she studied the impacts of climate change on fisheries in Vietnam and farmers in Morocco, and on water accessibility in Bolivia. She is originally from the Adirondack Mountains of New York, and her love for the outdoors drew her to Maine to study government at Colby College. Sophie now happily resides in Portland and enjoys biking, skiing, fly fishing, and exploring the mountains and rivers of Maine.

Why I Do This Work

"Climate change is a monumental issue that is already impacting Maine, and will impact everyone, and energy consumption is a part of EVERYONE’s life—every person has a role to play in addressing climate change, and I do this work because I’m excited about connecting people to individual and collective solutions."
