Maine is a leader in clean energy development and reducing climate-changing carbon pollution. We are doing our part, and now we need federal action to address climate pollution from power plants. You can help by adding your name to the growing list of Maine businesses calling for federal action on climate and clean energy.
In 2010 more than 500 Maine businesses signed a letter to Maine’s U.S. Senators calling on them to help pass climate and clean energy legislation this year. They included Hannaford Brothers, Oakhurst Dairy, Lee Auto Malls, Reed & Reed, Verso Paper, and hundreds of other businesses.
This letter was updated in 2013 to reflect growing recognition of climate impacts on Maine and now asks Senators Collins and King to support the President’s plan to reduce carbon pollution from power plants through the Clean Air Act.
As of April 14, 2014, more than 300 Maine business owners have signed on in support of the EPA’s proposed standards for power plant carbon pollution. We will continue to grow the list, and will deliver the letter to Senators King and Collins this spring. To see a full list of businesses that have signed onto the current letter, scroll down to the bottom of this page.
