Introducing NRCM’s Community Solar Toolkit
NRCM wants to help towns and community groups looking to transition to clean, renewable energy by connecting them with others who are already on the path. Our new Community Solar Toolkit will help you learn about other solar initiatives around Maine and solar policies so your community does not have to reinvent the wheel when considering clean energy.
All across Maine, towns and cities large and small are seeing the light. From Belfast to Bar Harbor, from the coast to the hills, the sun is shining on community-scale solar projects that are helping meet energy needs with nature’s ultimate renewable resource!
Citizens throughout Maine are working to ensure the rooftops of large, public buildings in their municipalities are doing more than keeping town equipment, people, and materials out of the elements. People are increasingly voting to install solar arrays designed to help power municipal buildings.
Solar energy can be a great option for towns and institutions that recognize and want to reap the budget predictability and lower costs of Maine’s solar resource, which is more abundant than that of Germany, the global leader in solar energy production. The cities and towns that are now home to community solar arrays set great examples for others who want to ensure the sun shines on a brighter, more sustainable future.
