Today, NRCM, along with a diverse coalition, announced the launch of Maine Citizens for Clean Energy, a new ballot initiative to increase Maine’s energy independence, protect Maine’s environment and people by reducing pollution, create jobs, and improve our economy. Climate change is the greatest threat facing our state, our nation, and our planet. We can’t wait any longer for policy-makers to agree on solutions equal to the scale of the threats. We are taking it to the voters with a ballot initiative for 2012 that will put Mainers back to work and leave our children and grandchildren a stronger economy and a cleaner environment.
Businesses and workers, doctors and nurses, environmentalists and entrepreneurs are part of the coalition working together on this extremely important initiative, which we kicked off this morning in Bangor at a press conference. Here are a few of the stories that have already emerged:
