Ned Claxton

Ned moved to Maine in 1978 with his wife, Marian (“Kitsie”), and has called Auburn home ever since. A family physician, he co-founded Family Healthcare Associates and spent much of his career teaching and leading the Central Maine Medical Center (CMMC) Family Medicine Residency Program. He later held several senior physician leadership positions at CMMC and Central Maine Healthcare before serving in medical consulting roles. After retiring from medicine, Ned served in the Maine Senate from 2018 to 2022 and continues to serve his community by supporting his church, coordinating trail maintenance and environmental stewardship projects, volunteering with local food donation efforts, and acting as Chair of the Board of the Maine College of Health Professions. Ned enjoys hiking, biking, kayaking, snowshoeing, reading, and spending time with Kitsie, their two sons, and granddaughter.
