Nancy Hasenfus

Nancy grew up in rural Maine and has been committed to environmental issues since an early age. She practiced primary care internal medicine for 33 years and served as governor of the Maine Chapter of the American College of Physicians from 2010 to 2014. In retirement, she has focused on expanding healthcare access and advancing environmental legislation. Nancy serves on the boards of MaineHealth, Maine Behavioral Healthcare, and ALIC (Androscoggin Lake Improvement Corporation). Much of her recent volunteer work has been through the Citizens’ Climate Lobby. She earned a master’s in education and a Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Maine before receiving her M.D. from Tufts University School of Medicine. She lives with her husband in Brunswick.
