The Allagash Wilderness Waterway remains a largely untouched chain of rivers, lakes, and ponds. For flat-water paddlers, anglers, and anyone who loves to observe wildlife, this five-day, four-night canoe trip offers a unique opportunity to enjoy one of the most beautiful and remote places in Maine.
Alexandra Conover and Garrett Conover will lead a special adventure for a small group of NRCM members and their guests. The Conovers are Registered Maine Guides and the owners of North Woods Ways, specializing in traditional wilderness travel.
The trip begins on Saturday, May 22, and ends on Wednesday, May 26. We will put in at the old Bissonette Bridge site below Chase Rapids and finish in Allagash Village.
Garrett and Alexandra will allow ample time for exploration, photography, wildlife observation, and the pursuit of individual interests. They also will introduce less experienced paddlers or ones who are new to the Allagash to the skill of “reading the river.” The paddle includes quick water and mild rapids.
